A Private Practice Built Around Real, Lasting Change
Therapy should feel personal—not like you're being moved through a system. My practice is built around individualized care, meaningful connection, and practical support for the things affecting your everyday life.
As a private practice, you'll work directly with me throughout the process, with therapy tailored to your needs, goals, and pace.
Meet Melanie Burns, LPC - Associate
I’m Melanie Burns, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I’ve spent more than 10 years working with youth and families, and that experience continues to shape the way I approach therapy today.
I’ve seen firsthand how anxiety, trauma, emotional overwhelm, stress, and major life changes can affect relationships, school, work, home life, and the way people see themselves. My work now focuses primarily on helping women and adolescents navigate these challenges and create meaningful, sustainable change.
I founded this practice because I believe therapy works best when it feels collaborative rather than clinical or one-size-fits-all. I draw from several therapeutic approaches depending on the person in front of me and what we’re working on together.
For clients who would like faith or spirituality to be part of therapy, I’m comfortable incorporating those beliefs and values into our work. Spiritual inclusion is always based on your preferences and is never assumed or imposed.

Specialized Training
Somatic Therapy — Body-based, trauma-informed approaches that explore the connection between emotional experiences, the nervous system, and physical responses to stress and trauma.

Women and adolescents/teens throughout Texas via telehealth.
Therapeutic Modalities
I draw from several therapeutic approaches to tailor care to each client's needs:
- Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) — Exploring emotions, underlying needs, and patterns that influence how you respond to yourself and others.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — Identifying and shifting thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to distress or keep you feeling stuck.
- Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) — Building skills for emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and healthier relationships.
- Narrative Therapy — Exploring the stories you carry about yourself and your experiences and reshaping those that no longer serve you.
- Person-Centered & Supportive Therapy — Providing a compassionate, nonjudgmental space to process emotions and experiences, build on your strengths, and feel heard and understood while developing healthier ways to navigate stress and life's challenges.
The Heart Behind the Practice
Why This Work Matters
People can look like they're managing everything well while carrying far more than anyone around them realizes. I created this practice to provide a space where women and adolescents can slow down, feel understood, and work through what's getting in the way.
Through virtual therapy, that support is available throughout Texas with the privacy and flexibility to fit therapy into everyday life.
My Approach to Care
Therapy here is collaborative, honest, and practical. Sessions aren't just a place to vent—they're a place to actually work through what's been weighing on you. I bring warmth and clinical skill in equal measure, and therapy is built around your goals, your pace, and what genuinely works for your life.
There's no judgment and no pressure to have the right answers. Therapy is a consistent, supportive space to better understand yourself, build skills, work through difficult experiences, and create meaningful change.
